The AWP Social Atlas dataset was first developed by students enrolled in Dr. Jerry Shannon's Community GIS class in Spring of 2016 and 2017. Updated in Fall of 2022, the Social Mapping Atlas includes data from a variety of sources, including the U.S. Census, agencies in the Athens-Clarke County government, and the AWP 3.0 Survey. Students used a technique called aerial interpolation to visually represent data points within census tracts and school attendance zones.
